So tonight was always going to be great - I’d been pumped for Mac Miller coming back to London for months. You won’t know this, but a friend of mine and myself have made some t-shirts because well, we wanted to. So I took one of the limited edition tees tonight to try and get some publicity out.

As a huge, somewhat obsessive fan, when I saw Jimmy, a friend of Mac’s walking around outside, I had to act. I’d originally planned to hand the shirt to the guy at the stage door and lie, I would have told him that Mac had asked someone to bring a tee to the show for him and we’ll never know if that would have worked. Because something better happened. I gave Jimmy the shirt, told him how I was a fan and had some small talk, and he instantly complimented the design. I was so happy that I’d just done that, so you can imagine my excitement when…he came out onstage wearing it.

It was such a trip to see a member of the crew that I’d followed for so long wearing a shirt that my friend and I had created. We designed them with hip-hop influences, concert footage and interviews always showcasing sick new tees and designs. To see the shirt in its element, going up and down onstage was a proud moment.

As I always do, I stayed after at the stage door in an attempt to meet Mac. It became pretty clear that Mac was not coming out for a good few hours, and I do have French A-Level tomorrow afternoon so I decided maybe it wasn’t wise to wait. However there Jimmy was, outside chillin, and I struck up a conversation with him. He again told me how much he loved the shirt, and how if we sent over some more they’d all wear them. Music to my ears.

It just goes to show that these artists whose image is hyped up and exaggerated are standard people, interested in conversation and nothing to be intimidated by.

I am truly blessed.
